Hezbollah fired missiles at Haifa, Israel, making the battle worse

Hezbollah fired rockets at Haifa, Israel’s third-largest city, early Monday morning. This came as Israeli forces seemed ready to expand their ground incursions into southern Lebanon. This happened on the first anniversary of the Gaza war, which started in December 2014 and has caused conflict all over the Middle East.

Iran-backed Hezbollah, which is a partner of Hamas, the Palestinian terrorist group fighting Israel in Gaza, said it used “Fadi 1” missiles to attack a military base south of Haifa and then went on to attack Tiberias, which is 65 km (40 miles) away.

Hezbollah said that in a second attack later on Monday, it used rockets to attack areas north of Haifa.

The Israeli military said that Hezbollah targets in south Lebanon were being bombed by the air force. Two Israeli soldiers were killed in action near the border, bringing the total number of military deaths in Lebanon to 11.

It also said it had done a targeted strike in the southern neighborhoods of Beirut, where a thick cloud of smoke could be seen.

The health ministry of Lebanon said that 10 firemen were killed when Israel attacked a municipal building in the border town of Bint Jbeil. On Sunday, 22 people were killed in other airstrikes in a wide range of southern and eastern towns.

People are worried that the US, which is Israel’s superpower friend, and Iran will get caught up in a bigger war in the oil-rich Middle East because the conflict is getting worse.

On October 1, Iran fired a lot of rockets at Israel. Israel has said it will fight back and is thinking about what to do. They might go after Iran’s oil sites.

Hit by rocks, Haifa

Local media said that 10 people were hurt when rockets hit Haifa, which is also a major Mediterranean port, on Monday. Israeli police confirmed this.

They said that five rockets were fired at Haifa from Lebanon and that interceptors were fired back at them. “Dead projectiles were found in the area.” The event is being looked into.”

It said that 15 more rockets were fired at Tiberias from the land in Israel’s northern Galilee region. Some of the rockets were shot down. The media in Israel said that five more rockets hit the area around Tiberias.

The military said that Israel also stopped two drones that were launched early Monday morning from the east after sirens went off in the middle of Rishon Lezion and Palmachim.

Hamas started the Gaza War by attacking Israel without warning a year ago. Now, the group says, Hamas fired a barrage of missiles at Tel Aviv, Israel’s commercial center, setting off sirens in the middle of the country.

Many Israelis have faith in their long-promised military and intelligence services again after recent attacks in Lebanon that killed key members of Hezbollah’s leadership. Hezbollah is Iran’s most powerful puppet force in the Middle East.

“Our counterattack on our enemies in Iran’s axis of evil is necessary for securing our future and ensuring our security,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a special cabinet meeting in Jerusalem to mark the anniversary of the Gaza war.

“We are changing the security reality in our region, for our children’s sake, for our future, to ensure that what happened on Oct. 7 does not happen again,” he said.

As part of Israel’s ongoing air operation against Hezbollah’s headquarters area, the heavily populated southern suburbs of Beirut were hit with more strikes overnight.

Israel says that the radical Shi’ite Muslim movement put its command centers and weapons under residential buildings in the middle of Beirut on purpose. Hezbollah says they are not hiding weapons among people.

1.2 million people have been forced to leave their homes in Lebanon because of Israeli attacks, and as the bombing campaign heats up, many people are afraid that their country will be hit with the same kind of damage as Gaza.

War between Israel and Hezbollah gets worse.

Around the same time as Hamas, Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel on October 8, 2023. Firefights between Hezbollah and Israel have mostly been limited to the border area for the past year. Now, the situation in Lebanon has gotten much worse.

Israel has sent troops into the southern part of Lebanon, but Hezbollah says it has pushed them back.

Israelis held ceremonies and protests on Monday to mark the first anniversary of the Hamas attack. One of the events was a memorial for the victims of the Nova Music Festival attack, where terrorists killed 364 people and kidnapped 44 partygoers and staff.

It was a shocking attack a year ago in Israeli towns and kibbutz villages near the border with Gaza. According to Israeli numbers, militants led by Hamas killed about 1,200 people and took about 250 prisoners back to Gaza.

The huge security breach caused the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. It also broke many people’s sense of safety and faith in their leaders to all-time lows.

The attack by Hamas set off an Israeli offensive on Gaza that has mostly leveled the heavily populated area and killed more than 42,000 people, according to Palestinian health officials.

The Gaza war has caused a global conflict in the Middle East that includes Iran’s “Axis of Resistance” (Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen, and militias in Iraq), and it has also led to a number of rare direct fights between Israel and Iran.
