Musicians Bien and Bensoul from Kenya have been nominated for the South African Music Awards

Two of Kenya’s most famous musicians, Bien and Bensoul, were nominated for awards at the 30th Annual South African Music Awards (SAMAs). This shows that the country’s music business is still making waves on the international stage.

Bien is best known for being in the award-winning afro-pop band Sauti Sol. He posted on social media that his first solo record, Alusa Why Are You Topless, has been nominated for a SAMA in the very competitive “Rest of Africa” category.

The nomination shows that Bien has done a great job transitioning into a solo career, showing how versatile he is as a singer beyond the sound of his band.

Bien is joined on the list of nominees by fellow Kenyan artist Bensoul, whose album Lion of Sudah has also been listed in the “Rest of Africa” category.

Bensoul used to be on Sauti Sol’s Sol Generation label, but he has slowly made his own way in the business by combining soulful sounds with afrobeats and reggae styles. His nod makes him even more of a star as one of Kenya’s brightest young talents.

There will be some big stars in African music in the competition that Bien and Bensoul will be in. This year’s awards are even more exciting because they include Nigerian artist Asake, Wurld, and Zimbabwean artist Edgar Muzah in the “Rest of Africa” category.

The 30th South African Music Awards are one of the most important music events on the continent. They honor excellence in a wide range of genres and categories. The event, which is set for November 2, 2024, looks like it will be a celebration of African talent. Tyla and Kabza De Small have the most nominees, with seven each.
