Ratcliffe says it’s not up to me to decide what will happen with Ten Hag

Jim Ratcliffe, a co-owner of Manchester United, said that he has nothing to do with the firing of manager Erik ten Hag. He also wouldn’t say if he still has faith in the team’s boss, even though they are off to their worst start to a Premier League season since 1986–87.

He told the BBC, “I don’t want to answer that question.” “I like Erik.” I think he’s a great coach, but in the end, it’s not up to me. The management team at Manchester United has to decide how to best run the team in a lot of different ways.

“Manchester United’s management team has only been together since June or July.” Their names are Omar Berrada (CEO) and Dan Ashworth (Sporting Director). They weren’t there in January, February, March, or April. They only got there in July.

“They’ve only been there . . . you can count it in weeks almost — they’ve not been there a long time, so they need to take stock and make some sensible decisions.”

Much of last season, Ten Hag’s job was up for grabs as the team finished eighth in the Premier League, which was their worst ever finish. But after Manchester City beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final and the season was over, Ten Hag signed a new deal that kept him at Old Trafford until 2026.

“Our objective is very clear, we want to take Manchester United back to where it should be, and it’s not there yet, obviously, that’s very clear,” Ratcliffe stated.

Ten Hag keeps asking fans to be patient, even though the team is 13th in the Premier League table and has lost three of its first six games. On Thursday, they were about to lose to Porto in the Europa League, but Harry Maguire scored at the very end to save a 3-3 tie.
