FIFA will look into claims that Israel is discriminating against the Palestine FA

In May, the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) put forward a plan to suspend Israel. On Thursday, FIFA’s governing body said that its discipline committee would be asked to look into the PFA’s claims of discrimination.

The PFA wanted to suspend Israel because of the war in Gaza. They said that the Israel Football Association (IFA) was directly involved with the Israeli government breaking international law, being unfair to Arab players, and letting clubs in Palestinian land play in its league.

FIFA had asked for a legal review, and the IFA denied the allegations.
“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will be mandated to initiate an investigation into the alleged offence of discrimination raised by the Palestine Football Association,” a FIFA statement said.

That Israeli football teams that are said to be based in Palestinian territories play in Israeli football events will also be looked into.

“FIFA’s Governance, Audit and Compliance Committee will be entrusted with the mission to investigateā€¦ the participation in Israeli competitions of Israeli football teams allegedly based in the territory of Palestine,” a statement said.

We asked the IFA for a reply, and they replied.

In a statement, the PFA said, “We welcome the FIFA Council’s decision to report this case to the appropriate legal bodies.”

Based on the right procedures and steps, we see it as a good step in the right way to deal with serious violations of FIFA’s statutory goals, human rights, and the rights of its member associations.

“We are confident in the legitimacy of our demands and trust in the judicial process to deliver a just resolution within a designated time frame.”

A group of human rights experts appointed by the UN said that at least eight football teams have been found to play in West Bank colonial settlements that are Israeli.

As a result of Israel’s illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian land, this kind of behavior and integration into the IFA is the same as accepting the situation as legal.” In a statement, they said, “This is the clearest breach of international law.”

The Palestine Football Association (PFA) says that at least 92 amateur Palestinian football players have been killed in the war. It also says that the war has wrecked football infrastructure, taken down its leagues, and forced its national team to play World Cup qualifiers away from home.

There was a suggestion from the PFA that FIFA should punish Israeli teams in the right way. This included the national team and clubs.

“The FIFA Council has implemented due diligence on this very sensitive matter and, based on a thorough assessment, we have followed the advice of the independent experts,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

At the 74th FIFA Congress, it was said, “We need peace above all else.” The ongoing violence in the area proves this.

“As we remain extremely shocked by what is happening, and our thoughts are with those who are suffering, we urge all parties to restore peace to the region with immediate effect.”
