CAF makes deals with SuperSport and SABC

After making deals with SuperSport and SABC, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the TV deals for the 2024–25 CAF interclub games.

CAF said that the number of people watching the Champions League on TV and online had gone over 40% in East and Southern Africa. This made stations interested in African football.

The 2024–25 CAF Champions League, the 2024–25 CAF Confederation Cup, the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, and the 2025 CAF Super Cup were up for bid. SuperSport won the pay TV rights in English, and SABC won the free-to-air rights in all languages.

The deals cover Sub-Saharan Africa, and Azam Media, which is based in East Africa, got the free-to-air rights.

“Major African and international broadcasters are very interested in African football because it is growing so quickly and is becoming more competitive on a global level,” CAF president Patrice Motsepe said in a statement.

“In the CAF Media Rights bids, SuperSport, SABC, and Azam Media have all been competing hard.” All of them are welcome to join CAF as partners, along with some of its Media Rights providers.

“We are dedicated to making sure that all of CAF’s competitions and broadcast products are the best in the world.”
