The president of Kenya says that more cops will be sent to Haiti
As part of a 2,500-person multinational group, President William Ruto said Thursday that Kenya will send more police officers to Haiti to help the government there fight armed gangs.
In a speech at the UN General Assembly, Ruto said that Kenya had already sent 382 highly trained officers to Haiti, where he met them last week.
In his speech, the president of Kenya said, “I must emphasize…that Kenya will deploy the additional contingent to reach the goal of all 2,500 police officers by January of next year.”
Kenya said ahead of time that it would lead the multinational team with 1,000 police officers.
