Bentancur almost cried when he said sorry for what he said, says Tottenham’s Son

Son Heung-min said on Wednesday that he doesn’t have a problem with Rodrigo Bentancur, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur. Bentancur was charged with misbehavior by the Football Association for using rude language toward Son Heung-min in a TV interview.

If the host of the Canal 10 show Por La Camiseta asked Bentancur in June for a Tottenham shirt, he told them “Sonny’s?” and could get a long FA ban. Since they all look the same, it could also be Sonny’s cousin.

Son, who is from South Korea, said, “I love Rodrigo,” before Tottenham’s first Europa League game on Thursday against Qarabag. I love him. We remember a lot of good times.

“He knew, and he said sorry right away.” I didn’t know what happened because I was on vacation. He wrote me a long text that was clearly from the heart.

“After that, he saw me training and almost cried.” He felt terrible. As people, we all make mistakes. I love Rodrigo, and as brothers, we move on together. I can only say, “We just have to wait for the FA’s process.”

Since joining Tottenham in 2015, Son has played 414 times and scored 164 goals. His current deal is up at the end of the current season.

The 32-year-old said that his main goal is to end Tottenham’s long wait for a trophy that goes back to 2008.

“At this age every second is like a goal, especially this season we are in a lot of competitions, it feels like I am taking even more care on this,” he said.

“This year is my only goal; I want to win something that everyone at the club deserves.” You never know what will happen in the future, but I’ll do anything for this club because I have for 10 years.
