Guardiola said that players’ requests for a better routine must come from them

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said on Friday that the players must push for a better match schedule. This came three days after Rodri, one of Guardiola’s midfielders, said that players might go on strike because of their heavy workload.

When Guardiola spoke on Friday, it was before his team’s game against Arsenal on Sunday. The defending Premier League winners have a tough stretch of seven games in three weeks.

Guardiola told reporters, “A lot of people are talking about it.” “Those who play must make changes if they want to happen.” With or without managers, sports directors, media, or owners, the game can go on, but it can’t be played without players.

“It is not just Rodri (speaking out), it is many, many players, and not just in this country, but around the world people are starting to talk, so we will see.”

Kevin de Bruyne left Wednesday’s 0-0 Champions League draw with Inter Milan on a limp and did not play in the second half. Guardiola did not say for sure if his leader would play on Sunday.

“Today he feels a little better. We’ll see what happens tomorrow when we train. “He might have a part to play,” the boss said.

The league winners and the runners-up from the last two seasons are going to play each other on Sunday. Both haven’t lost yet and are coming off of draws in the Champions League last week. After four games, City is the only team in the league with a perfect record and is in first place.

“Arsenal’s depth of the team gets better every season.” “Even season is getting better and better,” Guardiola said.

When asked about Arsenal’s progress, the City manager said that manager Mikel Arteta would be a better person to answer.

“Because if I say something they’ll say I was playing mind games or something like that,” he said. “I’ve always thought well of him and his team. It was close both years, but we were also very strong. But we are still wrong.

“It’s always been a tight game, in the last few years,” he said. “I believe we are a good team, but I also believe they are good.” Their whole team does a lot of good things, which is why they’ve been our biggest enemies for the last two years.

Arsenal is second in the table with 12 points, two behind City. However, Guardiola said that Sunday’s game is “not really important” for deciding the title because it is so early in the season.

“It’ll be important when we go to London in the second half of the season,” he stated.

On February 1, City will go to Arsenal to play them again.
