The new FIFA rankings show that Kenya’s Harambee Stars have moved up six spots

The Harambee Stars of Kenya had a great season after moving up six spots in the current FIFA world rankings, which came out on Thursday.

The East African country moved up 11 spots and is now in 102nd place. They have 1,208 points now, up from 1,197 points before.

The current success might be due to how well the team played in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where they played two games against Zimbabwe on September 6 and Namibia on September 10.

Kenya’s head coach Engin Firat started their Group J qualifying challenge against the Warriors. The first game was at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Uganda, where the teams tied 0-0. On the second day of their qualifying, Kenya came back to beat the Warriors 2-1 at Orlando Stadium in South Africa.

Kenya beat Namibia 2-0 in the second half thanks to goals from striker John Avire and defender Duke Abuya. They are now in first place in Group J with four points, tied with Cameroon for first place after beating Namibia 1-0 in their first game and drawing Zimbabwe 0-0.

Kenya will now get ready to play Cameroon in two AFCON matches right after each other. Their first match will take place away in Cameroon on October 15. The second match will also take place on October 15 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Uganda.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco stayed in 14th place, making them the best team in Africa. Senegal, on the other hand, fell two spots to 21st. The top three countries in the world rankings are still Argentina, France, and Spain.
