A partial evacuation has been ordered in the Tver region of Russia following a significant drone attack by the Ukrainians

A fire started by a Ukrainian drone strike has prompted a partial evacuation of Russia’s Tver region.

According to the local governor, a “massive” Ukrainian drone attack caused a fire in the Tver area of Russia, prompting a partial evacuation.

According to Igor Rudenya, firefighters in the town of Toropets were attempting to “localize” the fire that was started by falling drone debris. He omitted to mention if there were any victims.

In the meantime, unsubstantiated allegations that a weapons depot was struck over night have given rise to film that appears to show a large explosion in the town.

Toropets is located roughly 470 km north of the Ukrainian border and 380 km (236 miles) northwest of Moscow, the capital of Russia.

Authorities in Toropets reported on Wednesday morning that busses were ready for the evacuation.

They further asserted that the roughly 13,000-person town’s circumstances were “under control.”

The number of people being evacuated was not disclosed by the authorities.

Meanwhile, regional kindergartens and schools would be closed on Wednesday, according to reports from Russia’s official media.

There were additional reports of overnight attacks in the western areas of Russia, namely Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, and Smolensk.

According to local authorities, two rockets and about fifty drones were shot down.

Regarding the purported attacks, Ukraine has remained silent.

According to Serhiy Popko, chief of the city’s military administration, Ukrainian air defenses were battling approaching Russian drones during the night close to the capital, Kyiv.

Additionally, explosions were reported in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, which is close to the Russian border.

If there were any casualties, it remained unclear at first.

There has been no independent verification of the statements made by Ukrainian and Russian officials.

In February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
