The president of Iran has denied that Tehran has transferred armaments to Russia since he assumed office

President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran declared on Monday that his government had not transmitted any weapons to Russia since assuming office in August. This statement was made in response to Western powers’ allegations that Tehran had delivered ballistic missiles to Moscow in September.

The United States and its allies last week accused Iran of transferring ballistic missiles to Russia for its involvement in the Ukraine conflict. As a result, Moscow and Tehran were subjected to new sanctions.

The claims made by the Western powers were denied by both Russia and Iran.

When asked whether Iran had transmitted missiles to Russia, Pezeshkian responded during a televised news conference: “It is conceivable that a delivery occurred in the past… However, I can guarantee that no such delivery has occurred to Russia since my appointment.”

The military cooperation between the two U.S.-sanctioned countries was further bolstered in February when Reuters reported that Iran had supplied Russia with a substantial quantity of potent surface-to-surface ballistic missiles.
