Russia issues threats to Ukraine and the West as the choice to launch long-range strikes approaches
Russian authorities issued a warning to Western countries on Saturday, assuring them of an uncontrolled intensification of conflict and the potential destruction of Kyiv. This warning came as Western leaders deliberated on the possibility of granting Ukraine permission to deploy their weapons for strikes that would penetrate deeply into Russian territory.
Late on Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy expressed that his strategy to attain triumph relied on the decision of Washington, specifically referring to the authorization for long-range attacks that Kyiv has been requesting from NATO members for a considerable period of time.
“Strong decisions are required,” stated Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelenskiy’s office, on the Telegram messaging app on Saturday. Dismantling the military installations from which terrorism arises is an effective means to halt its spread.
According to Kyiv, these strikes are crucial for its endeavors to limit Moscow’s capacity to launch an attack on Ukraine. However, allies have been hesitant to authorize them thus far, expressing concerns that Moscow may perceive them as an escalation and questioning their effectiveness.
Although no formal decision has been made as far, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov claimed that one had already been reached and conveyed to Kyiv, and that Moscow would need to take its own measures in response.
“A decision has been reached, granting complete autonomy and all necessary concessions to Kyiv, so ensuring our preparedness for any situation,” Ryabkov stated, as reported by the RIA news agency.
“We shall respond in a manner that will not be favorable.”
Melted spot
According to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who currently holds the position of deputy chairman of the country’s security council, the Western countries are actively assessing Russia’s tolerance, albeit it is not without boundaries.
According to Medvedev, Ukraine’s invasion of Russia’s Kursk region, which Zelenskiy characterized as a successful operation impeding Russia’s progress, has already provided Russia with legitimate reasons to deploy its nuclear weapons.
According to him, Moscow has the option to either employ nuclear weapons as a final option or utilize some of its non-nuclear yet nonetheless lethal new weapons for a sustained offensive.
“And that would end the matter.” In reference to Kyiv, he said on the Telegram messaging service that a massive, grey, molten area had replaced the phrase ‘the mother of Russian cities’.
“The loud threats of Putin’s regime testify only to his fear that terror may come to an end,” stated Yermak, the leader of Ukraine, in reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
