ESPN reports that the Man City hearing on potential financial rule violations would start on Monday

According to ESPN, the hearing into Manchester City’s 115 alleged violations of Premier League financial standards is scheduled to start on Monday.

In February 2023, City was sent to an independent commission on the alleged violations, which date back to the 2009–10 campaign. Allegations have been made against the club over rules concerning the provision of accurate financial information.

In addition, City is accused of violating Premier League laws that mandate that teams adhere to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines between the 2013–14 and 2017–18 seasons, as well as Premier League regulations concerning profit and sustainability (PSR) between the 2015–16 and 2017–18 seasons.

The team, which in May won a record fourth straight Premier League title, expressed surprise at the league’s “issuing of these alleged breaches” when they were sent to the commission.

“The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position,” City stated.

According to sources who spoke with ESPN, the hearing is scheduled to start on September 16 and should take roughly two months. The ultimate decision, including any appeals, should be made by the end of the current season.

If proven guilty, City can be subject to sanctions like a reduction in points or relegation.

Last season, Everton and Nottingham Forest were docked points for violating PSR guidelines.

The Premier League refrained from commenting, while Manchester City was not immediately available for remark.
