Tyla Thinks Back on Her First Year Becoming Famous Around the World

Tyra thinks she has “changed a lot” in the year she has been famous around the world.

Since her self-titled debut record came out in early 2024, the 22-year-old pop star has been constantly compared to Britney Spears and Rihanna. But she now “doesn’t care” what other people say and is looking forward to having “fun” in the next year of her career.

“I do feel like I’ve changed a lot in a few months,” she told ELLE. “People may not see it.” That will be on my next record, which makes me happy. I used to care at first. Recently, I’ve been thinking, “They can say what they want, and it doesn’t matter because I know it’s not that.”

“This year was my chance to say hello.” I’m just going to have fun next year.

“Do anything, wear anything.” My music is a mix of a lot of different styles and parts of my life. It will still be me, with the same hot vibes, but I’ve changed.

The “Water” singer likes to spend time in her hometown of Johannesburg when she’s not in the press. She also said that the South African city was very strong during the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, when police tried to stop people from partying after curfews.
