After her arrest in August, actress Skai Jackson will not face charges

Skai Jackson was detained on suspicion of domestic abuse, but she will not face charges.

The former “Jessie” star was taken into custody in August when security at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles reported seeing 22-year-old Skai and her boyfriend fighting.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office is now refusing to press charges against her, though.

“Skai is relieved that the investigation revealed that this was nothing more than a misunderstanding,” a spokeswoman for Skai told PEOPLE. We are grateful that the District Attorney acted swiftly to rule out any charges, and Skai is eager to move on from this.

According to an earlier TMZ article, Skai shoved her lover “more than once,” and security held them both until the police could arrive.

Skai and her boyfriend allegedly told police they were engaged and denied ever having a physical altercation.

However, Jackson was taken into custody, given a citation, then released a few hours later when deputies examined the video footage and discovered evidence of shoving.

According to the sheriff’s office at the time, there were no weapons used and no visible injuries.

In the past, Skai and her partner remained private about their relationship.

Skai participated on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2020 and as Zuri Ross on “Jessie” and its spinoff “Bunk’d.”
