After losing in the Champions League, Azam FC is ready for its Premier League debut

As AZAM FC gets ready to take on JKT Tanzania in their Premier League season opening at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam today, assistant coach Bruno Ferry is expecting a big response from his team.

This game is being played soon after Azam’s recent elimination from the CAF Champions League, when they lost 2-1 on aggregate to Rwanda’s APR.

Ferry emphasized the value of getting off to a solid start during the pre-match briefing, pointing out that the first game’s result can determine the course of the entire season.

“We anticipate a positive response from the players following our disqualification from the Champions League,” Ferry stated.

We have to go into this game with a winning mentality and a sense of determination.

We will have to see how effectively we can recover from the recent defeat against our opponents, who are a strong team under a new coach, he continued.

Ferry further emphasized that Azam’s attention is now just on the Premier League following their elimination from the Champions League.

“We want to do better than we did the previous season,” he continued.

We must set aside our negative thoughts and aim higher since we know this will be a difficult season due to the quality of signings made by other teams.

Coach Hamady Ally of JKT Tanzania acknowledged the difficulty of playing against a formidable Azam team.

“Azam is a team not to be underestimated because they have heavily invested in their squad and are coming off a Champions League campaign,” Ally stated.

“We’ve devised a covert approach to manage them, and although I am unable to reveal specifics, I am optimistic that it will aid us in achieving positive outcomes at home.” He revealed.

Ally also mentioned the signing of experienced striker John Bocco, who he thinks will provide JKT Tanzania’s team invaluable experience.

Hassan Dilunga, a midfielder for JKT, shared same feeling when he talked about the game, stressing the team’s eagerness and readiness for it.

“We’re excited to show off our skills against Azam FC in our first home game,” Dilunga said.

However, Hamis Yassin of Azam reaffirmed the team’s readiness and the importance of getting off to a fast start.

“After the recent disappointment in the Champions League, we need a solid result to boost our morale,” Yassin stated, urging supporters to give the squad their full support.

The Premier League season is off to an exciting start with both teams keen to get off to a solid start.

Fans are excited to see if history would repeat itself after Azam defeated the clubs 2-0 in the same location last season.

Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma has been barred from holding league matches by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) until it is deemed safe for players to participate.

Despite being one of the few stadiums equipped with floodlights to support night matches, it becomes the first location to be suspended this season.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the board’s information department, the stadium’s surface is not in a suitable enough condition to host league games.

Since then, the board has instructed Dodoma Jiji FC to look for a different home venue from those deemed suitable to host the season’s league games.

The board also reminded all clubs that if they don’t maintain their venues properly throughout the season, they won’t be able to hold league games.
