Barcelona’s Bernal has unfortunately suffered an ACL rupture

Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal is set to be sidelined for a significant portion of the season due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), according to an announcement by the LaLiga club on Wednesday.

During Tuesday’s 2-1 victory at Rayo Vallecano, the 17-year-old Bernal unfortunately sustained an injury to his left knee. He was forced off the pitch in the final minutes of the game.

Bernal, who made his debut in Barca’s opening day win over Valencia, also sustained an injury to the external meniscus. “He is scheduled to receive surgical treatment in the upcoming days,” Barcelona announced in an official statement.

Barcelona’s upcoming match in LaLiga is against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
