Flick maintains that Barcelona should consistently pursue the LaLiga championship

Barcelona has begun the LaLiga season with two consecutive victories, despite the absence of several crucial players. This victory has heightened expectations regarding the potential of new manager Hansi Flick.

Barcelona, who are currently on top of LaLiga with Celta Vigo on six points, will travel to Madrid to face Rayo Vallecano on Tuesday. Rayo Vallecano is unbeaten after startling Real Sociedad 2-1 and holding Getafe to a hard-fought goalless draw on Saturday.

“The objective of Barcelona should perpetually be to secure the league,” stated Flick during a press conference on Monday.

“Certainly, the journey is lengthy; however, we have made a promising start, despite the fact that circumstances can evolve rapidly.” Currently, we are pleased with our beginnings and are filled with assurance. Our primary objective is to maintain momentum in the forthcoming encounter, rather than thinking ahead to May.

“We are extremely pleased with the team’s performance on the field.” The players are highly concentrated, the training sessions are of high quality, and the intensity is satisfactory. This is evident in the contests.

The pressure surrounding a club in turmoil on and off the pitch will be alleviated by Rayo’s reliance on the raucous Vallecas Stadium to help halt in-form Barcelona, which has won convincingly against tough opponents in Valencia and Athletic Bilbao.

SEASON OF TROPHYLESS

After a trophy-less last campaign that culminated in the controversial dismissal of manager Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona recruited former Bayern Munich and Germany coach Flick to assist them in reclaiming the LaLiga title from Real Madrid.

Flick assumed control of a club that was in dire financial straits. He was frantically attempting to reduce the first-team wage bill in order to conform with LaLiga’s financial controls, which would enable him to register new signings such as Spain international Dani Olmo.

After only one season of signing German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City, they allowed him to depart as a free agent. On Monday, they announced the departure of French defender Clement Lenglet to Atletico Madrid and Brazilian forward Vitor Roque to Real Betis. Both players were granted season-long loans with no transfer fees in order to repay their salaries.

Flick is optimistic that this will allow them to register the versatile Olmo, who was instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 victory, concluding as one of the tournament’s top scorers with three goals and one of six Spain players featured in UEFA’s team of the tournament.

“I’m hopeful I can finally can count on him tomorrow,” Flick reported.

“I also had optimistic expectations for him in the most recent game; however, circumstances are as they are.” It would be amazing; however, we shall observe the outcome. The player, the team, and the coach are all beyond our control; we recognize that it is a challenging situation.

“I have already communicated with him; it is a challenging circumstance.” Of course, he is not content; however, he is cognizant of the circumstances. “If the opportunity arises, he is physically prepared to participate.”
