Milan has acquired Monaco’s midfielder, Fofana

AC Milan announced on Saturday that they have acquired French midfielder Youssouf Fofana from AS Monaco on a four-year contract.

Italian media reported that Milan would pay approximately 25 million euros ($27.57 million) for the 25-year-old, including incentives, although the transfer fee was not disclosed.

Fofana has contributed three goals to the French national team in 21 appearances. West Ham United and Manchester United were also purportedly interested in him.

The acquisition of Fofana is likely to indicate the conclusion of manager Paulo Fonseca’s purchasing activity in the current transfer window, as he stated on Friday that no further appointments were in the works.

As Milan prepares to commence their Serie A campaign against Torino at home later on Saturday, they have already signed striker Alvaro Morata and defenders Emerson Royal and Strahinja Pavlovic.
