Kanye West’s album is prevented from reaching the top spot by Taylor Swift, who subsequently appears to rename an alleged Kim Kardashian song in his honor
Swift transformed the name of one of her “Tortured Poets Department” tracks, “thanK you aIMee,” into “thank You aimEe.”
Taylor Swift has discreetly changed the song title from “thanK you aIMee” to “thank You aimEe” for the release of the live version she performed in London in June. The subtle difference is speaking volumes to Swifties.
Swift presumably directed a dig at the Chicago rapper after the 14-time Grammy winner’s The Tortured Poets Department secured its 14th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, thereby preventing Ye (a.k.a. Kanye West) and Ty Dolla $ign’s joint album Vultures 2 from reaching the top spot.
On Thursday, August 15, Swift, 34, released a live medley of “Mean” and “thank You aimEe,” which she combined during her June 22 Eras Tour performance. The tune, which is believed to be about a tyrant named Kim Kardashian, was stylized to spell out KIM by stylizing the capital letters of the original title.
The most recent development in their decades-long dispute appears to be the capital letters in the title, “thank You aimEe,” which spell out YE.
Swift sings in the Tortured Poets song, “All that time you were throwing punches, I was building something / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel — Screamed ‘F— you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushing / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”
In addition to interrupting Swift’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech, the rapper also incorporated the following lyrics into his 2016 song “Famous”: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why?” I gained reputation for that b——.” Then, he asserted that she had authorized the lyrics.
Nevertheless, Swift’s representative denied that she had been informed of the lyrics, “I made that b—— famous.” Kardashian maintained her unwavering support for Ye during that conflict.
Although Swift has never explicitly stated the subject of “thanK you aIMee” (or “thank You aimEe”), listeners have since identified the “KIM” as Kim Kardashian and the “YE” as her ex-husband.
On X (formerly Twitter), one individual stated, “We love a shady queen.” Another individual wrote, “Taylor changing the letters in ‘thank you aimee’ from ‘Kim’ to ‘Ye’ is a VERY rep coded thing for her to do🐍.”
As Swifties eagerly anticipate the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), the re-recorded version of her 2017 album that was released subsequent to her dispute with the couple, the song title change has been announced.
