Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, the commander of a Peruvian gang that is wanted, has been apprehended in the United States, according to officials.
A notorious Peruvian criminal leader, Gianfranco Torres-Navarro, has been apprehended in New York state after illegally entering the United States, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. Peru’s most-wanted list includes Torres-Navarro, 38, who is suspected of being the commander of the Los Killers organization.
After unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border on May 16, Torres-Navarro, who is also known as “Gianfranco 23” due to the number of his alleged victims, was initially detained. A notice to appear for immigration proceedings was served to him at that time. Authorities were not informed of his criminal status in Peru until two months later, which resulted in his detention during a “targeted enforcement action” in the town of Endicott, New York.
A senior state immigration official, Thomas Brophy, stated, “Gianfranco Torres-Navarro poses a substantial threat to our communities.” No, we will not permit New York to serve as a sanctuary for harmful non-citizens.
It is alleged that Torres-Navarro fled Peru after allegedly killing a retired police officer. As he awaits immigration proceedings, he is presently being detained at a federal detention facility. The case has garnered attention as a result of the severity of Torres-Navarro’s alleged offenses in Peru and his reputation.
