Usher postpones his Atlanta tour opener only hours before showtime

Usher has postponed the first night of his “Past Present Future” tour, which was supposed to start on Wednesday at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. The R&B artist revealed her withdrawal just hours before the event, citing severe pain.

In a posting on social media, Usher stated, “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat, and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans.” I have every intention of doing the same for this tour, which is why I had to cancel tonight’s concert at a later date to allow my body a chance to rest and heal.”

He promised fans that the rescheduled event will still provide the whole experience, with a mix of his former classics, current favorites, and a glimpse into what’s ahead in his career. Usher said, “The last thing I want to do is disappoint you, the fans who have been impatiently waiting for this tour to begin. However, I wouldn’t be the performer I am unless I could physically give you my all.”

It is now uncertain whether his next gigs in Atlanta on Friday and Saturday will go place as planned. Usher’s crew has vowed to keep fans updated on ticket availability and new tour dates.

This tour represents a watershed point in Usher’s career, following his recent Super Bowl halftime performance and the release of his ninth album, “Coming Home.” Originally intended for 24 North American dates, the tour has been expanded to 58 events, with a European leg scheduled for 2025.

Earlier this summer, Usher performed at the Essence Festival in New Orleans to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his famous album “Confessions”. He also earned the BET Lifetime Achievement Award for 2024 in June.
