Sanaa Lathan Recognized at the Black Excellence Brunch Powered by Camille Rose

Janell Stephens, the Founder and CEO of Camille Rose, collaborated with Trell Thomas of Black Excellence Brunch to host a memorable event at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival in honor of actress, director, and activist Sanaa Lathan. Rather than merely a social gathering, the event was a commemoration of the culture, excellence, and connection of the Black community. View the event’s gallery within.

The Black Excellence Brunch, which was sponsored by Camille Rose this year, honored the extraordinary entertainer, Sanaa Lathan, on Friday, August 9.Nearly 200 attendees, including cultural icons such as Uzo Aduba, Sylvia Obell, and Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, convened under one structure to commemorate the legacy and accomplishments of Black excellence. A profound sense of community and inspiration permeated the ambiance, which was electrifying.

Not only is the Black Excellence Brunch an event, but it is also a movement. Thomas founded this series, which reinvents the custom of Sunday dinners by reimagining them as a platform for the celebration of Black culture, history, and excellence in all of its manifestations. The local gathering that began has evolved into a global celebration, spanning from the vibrant streets of Ghana to the iconic landscapes of Martha’s Vineyard. Honoring the past and motivating the future, each brunch serves as a potent reminder of the enduring legacy of our community.

Within the Black community, the significance of unity and festivity is underscored by Stephens’ participation in this year’s brunch. The event not only commemorated individual accomplishments but also created meaningful connections that will persist in inspiring and uplifting individuals as a result of Camille Rose’s partnership. As the Black Excellence Brunch expands, it serves as a testament to the capacity of community, culture, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.
