According to sources, Vinicius of Real Madrid is amenable to a Saudi offer of one billion euros
On Monday, sources close to Vinicius Jr., the forward for Real Madrid and Brazil, informed Reuters that he is amenable to an offer from Saudi Arabia in excess of one billion euros.
Vinicius, 24, was approached by officials from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) to inquire about his interest in transferring to the Saudi Pro League (SPL) on a five-year contract that would be worth approximately 200 million euros per season, plus incentives.
The terms and financial details of the distinct 10-year contract to serve as an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the country, have not yet been reviewed.
Vinicius has not rejected the possibility of a transfer and has granted PIF permission to contact Real Madrid, despite the fact that an official, formal offer has not yet been submitted.
Vinicius and his representatives maintain that a lucrative offer of this nature necessitates meticulous examination, despite their “satisfaction and motivation” in the Spanish capital.
Real have not expressed any interest in negotiating a transfer, according to an additional source who is close to the player. The source also emphasized the player’s one billion euro buy-out clause.
Real Madrid and PIF declined to respond to inquiries for comment.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced a Sports Clubs Investment and Privatization Project in order to be recognized as a soccer force. The project involved the Public Investment Fund (PIF) acquiring 75% of the capital of the country’s four primary clubs: Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, and Al Nassr.
The most significant Saudi transfer occurred when Al Hilal, the most successful club in the nation, spent 90 million euros to acquire forward Neymar from Paris St. Germain.
PIF attempted to persuade Kylian Mbappe, the France captain, to become the prominent figure that Al Ahli is still lacking, despite the presence of Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad and Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
Nevertheless, the forward declined Saudi Arabia’s lucrative offer and subsequently joined Real Madrid in June.
It is believed that the Vinicius proposal is comparable to the Mbappe offer. The Brazilian would connect up with former Premier League players Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino by joining Al Ahli.
Vinicius, who signed an extension in 2022, is a potential candidate for the Ballon d’Or award for the world’s finest player. He assisted Real Madrid in winning the Champions League and LaLiga double last season. His contract is set to expire in 2027.
