The United States is informed by an Israeli minister that a significant Iranian attack is anticipated, according to Axios

Barak Ravid, an Axios correspondent, reported on Sunday that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that Iran was preparing for a significant military strike against Israel. Ravid cited a source with knowledge of the call in a post on X.

The call occurred overnight, as verified by Gallant’s ministry in a statement released on Monday. According to the report, Gallant and Austin deliberated on the Israeli military’s preparedness in response to Iranian threats, as well as operational and strategic coordination.

By contrast, Austin has directed the deployment of a guided missile submarine to the Middle East. To fortify Israeli defenses, the U.S. military had previously announced that it would deploy additional Navy warships and fighter aircraft to the region.

On Friday, local news agencies quoted a deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards as stating that Iran was prepared to implement an order from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to “harshly punish” Israel for the assassination of the leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Tehran on July 31.
