According to field engineers, local demonstrators partially closed Libya’s Sharara oil field
Two field engineers in Libya told Reuters late on Saturday that local demonstrators had partially closed off the Sharara oil field.
With a daily capacity of around 300,000 barrels, the Sharara field is one of Libya’s main production locations and has frequently been targeted for political reasons as well as demands made by local protestors.
The field is situated in southeast Libya’s Murzuq basin. It is managed by the national oil company NOC through Acacus business with Repsol (REP.MC) of Spain, Total (TTEF.PA) of France, OMV (OMVV.VI) of Austria, and Equinor (EQNR.OL) of Norway.
