Four US crew members lost their lives when a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in Iraq
Four US crew members lost their lives when a KC-135 refueling aircraft crashed in Iraq during operations associated with the ongoing conflict with Iran.
According to the United States Central Command, four of the six crew members on a U.S. military refueling aircraft have lost their lives following the plane’s crash in neighboring Iraq.
On Friday, the command issued a statement indicating that the aircraft, a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, was involved in ongoing US military operations related to the conflict with Iran.
The military reported that rescue operations are still in progress at the crash site, and investigations have commenced to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
Officials emphasized that initial findings suggested enemy action did not down the aircraft.
“The aircraft was lost without the involvement of hostile or friendly fire,” the command stated.
The most recent casualties have raised the total of U.S. service members who have lost their lives in operations related to the conflict with Iran to a minimum of 11.
