Anthony Joshua Moves £150m Business Empire From UK To Dubai
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has moved his £150m business empire from the UK to Dubai, as confirmed by corporate filings indicating his residency in the UAE.
Former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua has moved his £150 million business empire from the United Kingdom to Dubai.
The British-Nigerian boxing star has confirmed through corporate filings that he is now residing in the United Arab Emirates, indicating a notable departure from the UK, where he developed his boxing career and grew his business ventures.
Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that the paperwork for two of Joshua’s companies, Sparta Promotions Limited and 258 Investments Limited, now identifies the UAE as his official country of residence.
The filings are a component of regulatory requirements that necessitate company directors to reveal their place of residence.
Dubai has emerged as a prominent destination for affluent athletes and entrepreneurs, thanks to its advantageous tax conditions, notably the lack of personal income tax.
Joshua announced dividend payments of £10.1 million for 2024 and £6.3 million for 2023, which would generally be liable for UK tax.
Sparta Promotions, his promotional company, recorded profits of £20.396 million in 2024 and paid £6.65 million in UK corporate tax during that period.
Joshua has kept strong connections with Dubai over the years, often traveling to the city for training camps, vacations, and promotional events with the brands he represents.
The emirate boasts a remarkable sporting infrastructure, making it an appealing hub for numerous international athletes.
This decision positions him alongside an increasing number of affluent British individuals who have chosen to move overseas, such as Manchester United owner Jim Ratcliffe and easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, both of whom live in Monaco.
Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, verified that the relocation occurred several months prior.
“He has already relocated to Dubai.” He doesn’t have to notify us before taking such action, but I am aware that he made the move several months ago,” he was quoted as saying by Punch Newspapers.
Joshua, born in Watford to Nigerian parents, gained international recognition after securing gold for the Great Britain Olympic boxing team at the 2012 London Olympics, later becoming a two-time heavyweight world champion.
His relocation occurs amid continuing tensions in the Middle East, which include security concerns associated with the wider regional conflict involving Iran.
The transition marks a significant turning point for the British Nigerian boxing star in the UK as he relocates his base and business ventures to the Middle East.
