Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr. is informed by WNBA star Rickea Jackson. “Will Kill Me,” Protective Order granted

WNBA star Rickea Jackson has obtained a temporary protective order against Atlanta Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr. following the submission of court documents detailing a series of alleged threats and a perilous vehicle chase earlier this year.

As per court documents acquired by ESPN, the forward for the Los Angeles Sparks sought protection from dating violence, expressing to the court her concerns for her safety after multiple incidents involving Pearce, her ex-boyfriend. A judge in Florida has granted the temporary order and scheduled a hearing for April 21 to determine if the protection will be extended permanently.

Pearce is prohibited from reaching out to Jackson until the hearing occurs. The order mandates that he maintain a distance of no less than 500 feet from her residence and place of employment, as well as at least 100 feet from her vehicle.

In the petition, Jackson informed the court that she felt the situation had intensified to a level where her life might be at risk. She stated that without legal protection, “James will kill me,” while detailing what she described as ongoing threats and efforts to coerce her into maintaining the relationship.

Jackson’s filing additionally asserts that Pearce attempted to convince her to keep in touch by making financial proposals. The petition states that she claimed he offered her $75,000 for a visit and $200,000 if she consented to remain in the relationship.

A request for a protective order has been made following an incident near Miami on February 7, which resulted in Pearce’s arrest. Jackson reported that she dialed 911 upon noticing Pearce trailing her as she drove home, informing authorities that she tried to get to a police station in Doral, convinced she was in imminent danger.

The filing states that Pearce purportedly pursued her at high speeds, obstructed her vehicle at a traffic light, and collided with her car multiple times while trying to push her off the road.

According to police reports, the situation concluded near the police station, where Jackson signaled to an officer. Authorities claim that Pearce collided with her vehicle once more, disregarded the commands of officers, and fled the scene before subsequently hitting an officer with her vehicle during the altercation.

Authorities report that Pearce ultimately crashed the vehicle and tried to escape on foot before being apprehended.

He is currently confronted with several felony charges, which encompass two counts of aggravated battery involving a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking, evading law enforcement, and aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer. He is also charged with a misdemeanor for resisting arrest without violence.

Pearce, 22, has just wrapped up his rookie season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he impressively finished third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, tallying 10.5 sacks.

The Falcons have indicated that the organization is cognizant of the situation and is in the process of collecting information as the legal proceedings unfold.
