Bronny James Makes His Comeback to the Lakers Following Impressive G League Performance
Bronny James has returned to the Los Angeles Lakers following another period of development with the team’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. The team has called back the rookie guard in preparation for their forthcoming game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The decision comes after his latest performance in the G League, during which James tallied 15 points, one rebound, and two assists. The opportunity allowed him to gain more playing time while further developing his confidence on the court.
This season, the Lakers have consistently shifted the young guard between the NBA roster and their G League team. Due to the occasional limitations on his playing time with the main squad, the assignments have provided him with opportunities to remain active and enhance his offensive rhythm.
In the 2025–26 season, James has played in 10 G League games, averaging 15.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Those performances have provided him with an opportunity to engage with the ball more often while he continues to adapt to the professional level.
Nonetheless, his journey in the league has captured significant interest due to his remarkable ties to the franchise. LeBron James, Bronny’s father, continues to be a pivotal part of the Lakers roster. In 2024, the team made NBA history by drafting Bronny, establishing the first father-son duo to play in the league simultaneously.
The situation garnered attention earlier this year after an ESPN report indicated tension between Lakers governor Jeanie Buss and LeBron James.
Buss later responded to the claims and directly addressed the report, stating, “Given all the great things LeBron has done for the Lakers, it’s wrong to pull him into my family drama,” adding that the notion his contributions went unappreciated was “false and completely unfair to him.”
