Two drones have fallen near Dubai Airport amid the ongoing crisis with Iran
Two drones crashed near Dubai International Airport, resulting in injuries to four individuals, yet flights are operating normally despite the prevailing regional tensions.
Authorities in Dubai have confirmed that “two drones fell in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport (DXB)” on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to four individuals amid ongoing regional tensions.
The incident occurs on the 12th day of the Iran crisis, which has led to disruptions in air traffic throughout the Gulf and resulted in flight cancellations, rescheduling, and re-routing globally.
Dubai’s media office reported that the attack resulted in minor injuries for two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi national, while one Indian national sustained moderate injuries. Officials have verified that air traffic at DXB is proceeding as usual.
The conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has led to the closure of significant portions of Middle Eastern airspace due to missile and drone threats. This crisis has also impacted energy markets, resulting in an increase in global fuel prices.
Carriers in the UAE, such as Emirates and Etihad, have restarted certain flights as of February 28, although they continue to operate at less than full capacity. The drone incident on Wednesday signified a fresh disruption at DXB, the globe’s busiest airport for international travelers, which accommodated nearly 100 million passengers last year.
