South Africa is willing to mediate in the Middle East conflict if requested
President Cyril Ramaphosa stated to local media during an energy conference in Cape Town that South Africa is prepared to act as a mediator in the Middle East conflict if requested.
South Africa is consistently prepared to take on a supportive role, whether in mediation or any other capacity. “And if a gap opens or if we are asked, we always fulfill our obligations,” Ramaphosa stated, as reported by local broadcaster Newzroom Afrika.
Should the chance present itself, we would initiate a dialogue and insist on the necessity of a ceasefire. Engaging in dialogue is the most effective approach to resolving conflict and ultimately bringing an end to war. “We desire for this war to conclude without delay,” he stated.
Ramaphosa stated that the South African government was making every effort to repatriate its citizens who are stranded in the region.
