In a recent X Spaces session on Thursday, the Grammy winner candidly discussed her recent social media conflict with Alex Bruesewitz, a media advisor to Donald Trump.
The conflict began when Bruesewitz claimed that Cardi’s team was responsible for a Politico report suggesting that thousands of bots were artificially boosting Nicki Minaj’s pro-Trump social media interactions. Cardi swiftly came to the defense of her agent, Mike G, an investor in the data firm responsible for the report, yet the ensuing fallout has left her with genuine concerns.
“I don’t even engage with that.” “I don’t want any trouble with anyone from the government,” she expressed to her audience. Cardi shared that the situation has sparked a sense of paranoia she hasn’t experienced previously, particularly due to the influence her adversaries possess. “I don’t want any conflict with the individuals working in the White House, because, heaven forbid, something happens to my plane, or I get kidnapped, or they interfere with my family,” she said. The rapper confessed that the idea of being monitored by government officials has her feeling “panicked.”
The Bronx native emphasized that, despite her status as a global superstar, she feels vulnerable in this particular arena. “I may be a celebrity, but ultimately, I’m just an ordinary person from the Bronx, and someone who is the right-hand man of the president has been targeting me for four or five days straight,” she remarked. Cardi expressed a feeling of having a “satellite on top of my crib” and expressed concern that people might be lurking outside her hotel.
