Floyd Mayweather is set to come out of retirement once more

Floyd Mayweather, a former multi-weight world boxing champion, is set to return from retirement this year for his first official fight in nearly a decade, as announced by his new promotion, CSI Sports/Fight Sports, on Friday. The identity of his opponent remains undecided.

Prior to his official comeback, Mayweather is scheduled to participate in an exhibition match against fellow boxing legend Mike Tyson, with the date and location yet to be revealed.

“I am confident in my ability to break more records in the sport of boxing—from my upcoming event with Mike Tyson to my next professional fight thereafter—no one will draw a larger crowd, attract a bigger global broadcast audience, or generate more revenue with each event than I will,” Mayweather, 48, stated on his new promotion’s website.

This will be the American’s fourth return from retirement, following earlier departures in 2007, 2015, and 2017 — the most recent after defeating Conor McGregor to enhance his record to 50-0. He has, nonetheless, participated in several exhibitions since then.

Throughout a career spanning three decades, Mayweather triumphed over numerous leading fighters of his time and headlined the three highest-grossing matches in history, facing Manny Pacquiao, McGregor, and Canelo Alvarez.
