Marseille penalized by UEFA following loss to Bruges

Olympique de Marseille is still grappling with the aftermath of its disappointing 3–0 loss in Bruges, a result that confirmed its exit from the Champions League group stage.

In addition to the sporting disappointment, that match is now becoming expensive off the pitch, highlighting that late January signified a pivotal moment in an already delicate season.

Marseille has been penalized by UEFA due to the actions of its supporters, who ignited fireworks in the stands. The disciplinary committee has enacted a travel ban on OM fans for the upcoming European away match, alongside a suspended sanction, and has imposed a fine of €25,000 on the club.

This decision intensifies the challenges faced by a club already experiencing sporting instability and internal conflicts. The aftermath of the Bruges night continues to loom over Marseille, with consequences reaching far beyond the field.
