Montell Jordan Is Now Cancer-Free: A Significant Victory For The R&B Icon

Following two battles with prostate cancer, the singer of “This Is How We Do It” is celebrating a clean bill of health and embracing a new mission.

Montell Jordan is starting 2026 with incredible news: he has officially overcome prostate cancer for the second time.

The 57-year-old singer initially confronted the disease in early 2024, but the situation became alarming when it reemerged with increased aggression in his lymph nodes. Following a challenging round of radiation and a total lifestyle change, he received the call he had been anticipating. “On Christmas Day, we discovered that we are undetected and cancer-free,” Montell states. “We’ve reached an all-clear, and I feel amazing.” After the tumultuous journey of being a two-time cancer survivor, standing in my home on Christmas Day and receiving that call felt surreal.

This was not a battle he faced alone. His wife of 32 years, Kristin Jordan, stood by his side through it all. In order to provide Montell with the best opportunity for maintaining good health, the couple eliminated sugar and dairy from their diet and remained dedicated to their gym routine. Kristin believes that collaborating was the sole method to ensure the changes were lasting. “Everything we undertake must be done together and in harmony for it to endure,” she explains. “We should really look after these temples we possess since we only have one, don’t we?”

Montell acknowledged that it was difficult to allow her in initially, as he didn’t want her to bear the burden of the illness. “When you have a disease, it feels as though sharing it with someone means they also bear the weight of that illness.” “I never wished for her to bear cancer,” he states. “What I discovered along the way is that, through her support, she didn’t need to bear the burden of cancer, but she could help lift me up.”

With his health restored, Montell is dedicated to assisting other men in detecting the disease early through his efforts with ZERO Prostate Cancer. He is also releasing a documentary titled Sustain that reveals the unfiltered aspects of his two-year struggle.

The couple aspires to share the ups and downs of their journey in the hope of assisting other families in staying ready for whatever challenges life may present. “I believe that’s an aspect of a conflict, isn’t it?” “That you don’t do it alone,” Kristin adds. “Independent pilots fail and falter.” “The teams that succeed are those that collaborate.”
