Wendy Williams’ father, Thomas Williams, has died at the age of 94
The family of the renowned media mogul grieves the passing of their patriarch, with niece Alex Finnie offering a heartfelt tribute to the man who “poured into both family and community.”
This week, the Williams family is experiencing profound grief over a significant loss. Thomas Williams, the father of media personality Wendy Williams, has died at the age of 94.
On Sunday, Wendy’s niece, journalist Alex Finnie, confirmed the news and shared her celebration of her grandfather’s life on social media.
In a poignant Instagram post showcasing a montage of beloved family memories, Finnie contemplated the lasting influence Thomas had over the years.
“It is with profound sorrow that I announce — after 94 years of remarkable love, strength, brilliance, and wisdom, my grandfather Thomas D. Williams has passed away,” she wrote.
Thomas transcended the role of a famous father; he was a distinguished individual in his own right, recognized for his commitment to education and history. His granddaughter emphasized these qualities, pointing out that his impact reached far beyond the immediate family.
“My grandfather was genuinely a man of remarkable intellect — an author, educator, and custodian of historical knowledge,” Alex Finnie expressed in her tribute. Papa invested deeply in both family and community. I miss him greatly. I find myself at a loss for words at this moment, but my love for you is boundless, Papa. Send a kiss to Nana on my behalf.
Thomas’s passing occurs almost six years following the death of his wife, Shirley Williams, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 85. The family can now take solace in the thought of the couple being together again. Finnie expressed in her post, “I know he is in heaven with Nana, watching over our family and continuing to guide us as he always has.”
The loss marks a poignant moment for the family, as Thomas had just celebrated his 94th birthday surrounded by Wendy and other loved ones.
Alex Finnie concluded her sincere message with a poignant vow of commitment: “I’ll be loving you always.”
