Trump Describes Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show as ‘Absolutely Terrible’

The US president criticizes Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance in a new social media post following the event.

US President Donald Trump has expressed his disapproval of the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny, calling the performance “absolutely terrible” in a social media post on Sunday.

Bad Bunny, known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, headlined the Super Bowl LX halftime show in Santa Clara, California, infusing the event with Spanish language lyrics and reggaeton beats on one of the largest platforms in American sports.

After the performance, Trump expressed his dissatisfaction on Truth Social.

“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is truly awful, one of the worst, EVER!” Trump wrote. “It is illogical, undermines the greatness of America, and fails to reflect our ideals of success, creativity, or excellence.”

The president had earlier expressed disapproval of Bad Bunny’s selection weeks prior to the event, labeling the choice to feature him as the halftime headliner as “absolutely ridiculous.”

The 31-year-old artist has expressed strong criticism of Trump’s deportation policies and has shown public support for Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election campaign. His latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, received the Album of the Year award at this year’s Grammy Awards.

In the midst of the controversy, the conservative organization Turning Point USA organized an alternative event called the “All American Halftime Show,” which showcased Kid Rock and various other performers. The group presented the concert as an alternative to the official halftime show.

Turning Point USA was established by Charlie Kirk, a close associate of Trump. The event received promotion on X from various figures aligned with Trump, including US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who shared the group’s announcement with the caption: “The Hegseth family is watching.”

At halftime of the Super Bowl game, Seattle led New England 9-0.
