Bad Bunny emphasizes culture and unity before their historic Super Bowl performance

The Seattle Seahawks will play the New England Patriots in the NFL championship game on Sunday, and as he got ready for his historic Super Bowl LX halftime act, Bad Bunny was reflecting on his culture, family, and friends.

Through his performance, the 31-year-old Puerto Rican star, whose album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” won Album of the Year at last week’s Grammys, hopes to offer a sense of community to people everywhere. More than 130 million people watched Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime concert last year, setting a new record.

“I feel more excited about the people than even myself, about my family, about my friends, people that I know that always believed in me and they’re happy because of this moment and the culture,” the artist, who told reporters Thursday while sporting an odd beanie hat with bunny ears, said.

His main objectives for the 13-minute performance were unity and joy, and he was open about how his intensely personal record went above and beyond his expectations.

Some conservatives, including President Donald Trump, have criticized Bad Bunny’s choice as the halftime main act, calling it “absolutely ridiculous.”

The musician has publicly backed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and criticised Trump’s deportation policy.

He said, “ICE out” from the stage when he accepted one of his three Grammys last week, alluding to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Because he was afraid that immigration officials would arrest his followers, he famously boycotted the continental U.S. tour.

When he announced that he was moving to Puerto Rico, he remembered thinking: “Oh, wow. I am a real desire of the world. Therefore, I should also travel to Latin America and the rest of the world to offer love.”Furthermore, I never imagined that I would have the chance to perform that album on one of the world’s largest stages,” he revealed.

“El Conejo Malo,” often known as Bad Bunny, responded warmly to a question about possible guest appearances by saying, “I think I have a lot of guests.” The Latino community worldwide, my friends, or my family will be affected.

One of the three children at the conference who were permitted to ask questions, the “Kid Correspondent” from the NFL Play 60 program, laughed with him and asked how he maintains his physical fitness for such taxing performances.

“Eating smash burgers and thinking about the Super Bowl halftime show at 4 a.m.”

Though he has had to make some compromises, he continued by saying, “I’m not even playing that much dominoes and that’s just killing me, bro.” He has been exercising and eating healthily.

“My biggest achievement, my biggest pleasure is just create, have fun doing it, and connect with the people,” he continued, despite the fact that Super Bowl LIV was six years ago when he performed on stage with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.

What can supporters anticipate on Sunday?Simply said, I want people to enjoy themselves. People can always count on me to throw a party that will be quite large. Many aspects of my culture, of course, but I really don’t want to give any away. “It’s going to be fun and it’s going to be a party,” he continued.
