Scottie Pippen is preparing to auction a remarkable collection of basketball memorabilia
Notable memories from the Chicago Bulls’ dynasty of the 1990s will be available for auction as former star Scottie Pippen offers his collection to the highest bidder.
Sotheby’s will auction Pippen’s Bulls memorabilia from March 2-10, featuring select items on display at the auctioneer’s headquarters in New York City.
The item that probably holds the greatest value wasn’t originally Pippen’s at all. The auction will feature the pair of Nike basketball shoes worn by Bulls teammate Michael Jordan during the 1992 Olympics.
The Athletic reports that the Jordan shoes may be valued at up to $3.5 million. “Each jersey, sneaker, and collectible I’ve kept over the years holds a memory, a feeling, a story of perseverance and teamwork,” Pippen stated in a release. It seems like the perfect moment to present these pieces and allow others to continue their narratives. I am thrilled to offer fans and collectors the opportunity to possess these unique items, to engage with the history and memories they embody, and to share in a segment of the journey I was fortunate to experience.
Several Pippen Bulls jerseys will be offered, including one from the 1998 NBA Finals and another from the 1997 Finals that Pippen wore during the Jordan “Flu Game.” Pippen jerseys from the 1996 and 1992 NBA Finals will be offered, along with All-Star Game jerseys from 1990 and 1997, and a Dream Team Olympics jersey from 1992.
Pippen’s 1994 All-Star Game MVP trophy, his Hall of Fame trophy, and his six replica NBA championship trophies will be available at auction, along with other select items that could fetch a total of up to $6 million.
