Da Brat Shares Her Reasons for Declining “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Peach: “They’re Certainly Going to Challenge Me”

Da Brat shares a close friendship with Porsha Williams and other stars from “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” yet she has no desire to hold a peach alongside them.

During the promotion of her new book alongside her wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart, Da Brat shared her thoughts on why she never felt that joining Real Housewives of Atlanta was the right choice for her. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly on Tuesday, February 3, the 51-year-old rapper expressed that the mere thought of it made her feel uneasy.

“It has been somewhat of a conversation,” she said. “I feel frightened.” Conflict is inevitable. They will try to provoke you in order to stir up anger.

Da Brat expressed her comprehension of the formula that fuels the enduring Bravo franchise, acknowledging that the drama is deliberate.

“That’s simply how things unfold on those shows that attract the audience, and you know that’s inevitable,” she continued. “I really didn’t want to be that person because I know my temper can be quite short, and I’m sure they will test me.”

Although she shares close relationships with current and former cast members like Kandi Burruss, Shamea Morton, Drew Sidora, Phaedra Parks, NeNe Leakes, and Cynthia Bailey, the rapper ultimately chose to decline any potential offer. Judy disclosed that Da Brat’s history also influenced the decision.

“My wife is a convicted felon,” Judy stated, alluding to Da Brat’s felony aggravated assault conviction from 2007. “The discussion is that she doesn’t particularly wish to engage in what is regarded as a ‘ensemble cast.’”

The couple has experience with reality television, having previously shared their lives on “Brat Loves Judy” from 2021 to 2023. Although they have not dismissed the possibility of a return to television, Da Brat emphasized that timing would be crucial.

“We’ve shared a significant part of our journey through our reality show, Brat Loves Judy,” she explained. “We may consider revisiting it… but if the chance arises later when [our 2-year-old son] is a bit older, we might fully engage with it.”
