Patrick Mahomes Sr. has been arrested once more following a flag from his alcohol monitor indicating a potential violation

Mahomes family faced a new legal challenge this week that struck close to home, away from the glitz of the Super Bowl. Pat Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was arrested on February 3 in Texas for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.

According to TMZ, the arrest was related to a potential alcohol-related incident. Mahomes Sr. is presently serving a five-year probation sentence related to his latest DWI conviction, which marks the third on his record. The case emerged soon after his son played a pivotal role in guiding the Chiefs to yet another Super Bowl victory in February 2024.

A 55-year-old former MLB player was taken into custody at Smith County Jail at 8:53 AM. The District Attorney’s office reported that Mahomes Sr.’s SCRAM ankle monitor indicated a high alcohol reading on January 1. The reading served as the foundation for the probation violation report, ultimately resulting in his arrest weeks afterward.

However, subsequent testing brought up concerns regarding the initial alert.

“The document indicates that Mahomes submitted urine samples on both January 5 and 9, with results showing no presence of alcohol,” the report mentioned, highlighting the absence of any indications of alcohol consumption on those dates.

Mahomes Sr. has a longstanding history of DWI charges. His initial arrest occurred on September 12, 2008, followed by another on February 26, 2019. On July 12, 2024, he faced additional legal issues when he was stopped for driving with an invalid license connected to the DWI case. On August 27, 2024, he entered a guilty plea.

During the sentencing the following month, Mahomes Sr. was given a 10-day jail term and placed under strict supervision for the initial year of his probation, which is scheduled to extend until late 2025.
