Verona, sitting at the bottom of Serie A, has parted ways with coach Zanetti after an eight-game streak without a victory
Hellas Verona, currently at the bottom of Serie A, has parted ways with coach Paolo Zanetti after a year and a half in charge, following an eight-match winless streak, the club announced on Monday.
Verona, after suffering a 4-0 defeat at Cagliari on Saturday, have managed to secure only two victories in the league, placing them four points adrift of the safety zone.
“Hellas Verona FC has announced that Paolo Zanetti is no longer the head coach of the first team,” the club stated, noting that U-19 coach Paolo Sammarco will conduct the first team’s training session on Monday.
Zanetti guided Verona to a 14th-place finish in Serie A last season, successfully steering clear of relegation by a margin of six points. This season, their performance has declined, conceding a league-high 41 goals in just 23 matches to date.
Verona will face 19th-placed Pisa, as both teams currently sit on 14 points, in their upcoming match on Friday.
