Lamar Odom Enters Rehab Following DUI Arrest Awakening Moment

Lamar Odom is making the decision to start again rather than make excuses after a recent arrest compelled him to check in with himself again.

The former NBA champion has reportedly discreetly enrolled in a residential treatment program, committing to 30 days of organized care, weeks after being placed under arrest in Las Vegas, according to Page Six. According to those closest to him, the decision was made earlier this month after he gave careful thought to how fast things may get out of hand if warning indicators are ignored.

His manager, Gina Rodriguez, made it clear that this was neither a PR stunt nor a court order. As an alternative, she presented it as a personal decision based on accountability and avoidance.

Rodriguez informed the site that he took some time to think and deal with triggers that he has been struggling with following a recent event. “He’s taking full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his well-being.”

Rodriguez also said Odom is “grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way.”

Odom was detained on January 17 and accused with driving under the influence. Law enforcement records reveal he is now dealing with two more traffic violations linked to the stop, including speeding more than 41 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and failing to keep his lane.

As part of his rehab, Odom is reportedly turning away from marijuana use. According to others who are familiar with his mentality, he sees it as a possible doorway that could lead him back to even riskier behaviors from his past.

The facility where Odom is residing focuses on substance use recovery with mental health therapy, with an emphasis on long-term wellness and accountability.

Now 46, Lamar Odom has lived much of his rehab process in public. In 2015, he escaped a near-fatal overdose after being found comatose at a Nevada brothel, an episode that put him in a coma and changed the trajectory of his life. His then-wife, Khloé Kardashian, delayed divorce proceedings at the time to help monitor his care.

Odom has now spoken candidly about how fragile sobriety can be. In a 2021 interview, he explained that supervised ketamine sessions helped him restore equilibrium.
