Halle Berry Poised to Command the White House in a Gripping Political Thriller

Halle Berry is entering into one of the most powerful roles of her career — literally.

According to an exclusive report by Deadline, the Oscar winner will portray the US president in the feature film “The President Is Missing,” which is now in development at Apple Original Films. The project is based on the bestselling political thriller written by Bill Clinton and James Patterson, which premiered in 2018 and instantly topped The New York Times bestseller list.

President Joanna Duncan, a gender-swapped version of the book’s original protagonist, will be portrayed by Berry. The narrative centers on a serious national security issue that requires the current president to vanish from public view in order to prevent a catastrophic attack on the nation. As the threat intensifies, President Duncan is forced to travel without the protection of her own security team, operating beyond the gates of the White House while the nation creeps closer to catastrophe.

David Chasteen and Nicole Perlman are adapting the screenplay. Berry and her companion Holly Jeter are producing under the HalleHolly brand. Clinton and Patterson are also involved, along with Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum of RK Films as additional producers.

Berry’s work behind the camera keeps expanding, even if “The President Is Missing” is the focal point of her current slate. HalleHolly, founded in 2022, focuses on fascinating personalities and tales typically pushed to the sidelines.

Outside of the Apple film, Berry remains committed to various television and film projects across comedy, thriller, and horror. Her appointment as Commander in Chief, however, remains a pivotal event, placing her at the epicenter of a high-stakes political drama with worldwide ramifications.
