Leicester has parted ways with manager Cifuentes following a six-month tenure
Marti Cifuentes was fired as manager of Leicester City on Sunday after six months in charge of the squad, which finished 14th in the Championship, six points behind the top six teams vying for promotion to the Premier League.
Under former Queens Park Rangers manager Cifuentes, they won just one game between September and October. Leicester’s 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Oxford United on Saturday was the final straw for the Spaniard, who has lost their last three games.
According to a statement released by Leicester Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, “I have not taken this decision lightly, and it has been a difficult one, but I think it is the right step at this time to improve performances and results.”
Last year, the 2015–16 Premier League winners were demoted from the top division in England.
