Driver Involved in Fatal Car Crash with Anthony Joshua Now in Police Custody

Police arrest the SUV driver who struck a parked vehicle on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, killing two colleagues and wounding Anthony Joshua.

The driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the collision that killed two members of Anthony Joshua’s entourage has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.

According to police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, “the driver of the Lexus SUV is currently in custody in connection with the Anthony Joshua accident case.” Investigations are still going on.

Joshua and three companions were traveling from Lagos when the event happened on Monday close to the Sinoma region in Sagamu, Ogun State. The SUV struck a truck that was not moving. Joshua suffered minor injuries, but his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, passed away.

Although Ogun police identified a tire burst as the cause of the collision, preliminary investigations by the Federal Road Safety Corps indicated that high speed and improper overtaking contributed to the collision.

Following treatment, Joshua was released from Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi on Wednesday. In order to assign complete blame for the catastrophic collision, authorities are still investigating the situation.
