Chelle wins Best Coach, and Lookman is named in the AFCON Group Stage Best XI

Ademola Lookman of Nigeria excels in the CAF group stage best XI, while Eric Chelle, the coach of the Super Eagles, wins first place.

Ademola Lookman, a winger for the Super Eagles, has been selected for the Africa Cup of Nations group stage best XI for the 2025 competition in Morocco.

The Confederation of African Football announced its squad of outstanding performers on Friday, and the 28-year-old was the only Nigerian chosen.

Lookman put on a strong show throughout the group stage, helping Nigeria reach the round of 16 with a maximum of 9 points from 3 games in Group C. He scored two goals and provided two assists.

After scoring the game-winning goal in Nigeria’s first encounter with Tanzania, the Atalanta forward scored an incredible third goal in the country’s victory over Tunisia.

After Nigeria’s outstanding accomplishments, Eric Chelle, the head coach of the Super Eagles, was also named the group stage’s best coach.

The hosts Brahim Diaz and Noussair Mazraoui were the two Moroccan players selected for the best XI. Alongside Sadio Mane of Senegal and Riyad Mahrez of Algeria, Amad Diallo of Cote d’Ivoire spearheaded the assault.

Mohamed El Shenawy of Egypt was chosen between the posts, followed by Carlos Baleba of Cameroon, Axel Tuanzebe of the Congo DR, Ali Abdi of Tunisia, and Edmond Tapsoba of Burkina Faso.

Nigeria will play Mozambique on December 5 as part of the 2025 AFCON knockout stage, which starts on December 3.
