Trump Prohibits Entry into the United States from These Nations

Today marks the implementation of the enlarged travel ban, which prohibits admission from 19 nations and travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.

On January 1, the Trump travel ban 2026 went into force, preventing citizens of 19 nations and those with specific travel papers issued by the Palestinian Authority from entering the United States.

There is neither a delay nor a slowing. This is a complete stop.

The following nations are currently completely prohibited from entering and issuing visas:

Afghanistan
Burkina Faso
Burma (Myanmar) Chad
Congo’s Republic
Guinea in the Equatoria
Eritrea
Iran and Haiti
Libya and Laos
Mali, Niger
Sierra Leone
The Somalia
Syria, Sudan, and South Sudan
Yemen

Additionally, visitors who try to enter the United States with travel documents issued by the Palestinian Authority are prohibited from doing so.

The effects are felt right away by citizens of these nations. You are not allowed entry if you were outside the country at the time of the ban and did not have a valid visa. This includes workers who have jobs lined up, families attempting to reconnect, and students getting ready for school. New visas are no longer granted under this policy, however existing visas are not immediately revoked.

According to the Trump administration, security and vetting criteria are the reason for the prohibition. Black and brown countries, many of which are experiencing conflict, instability, or humanitarian crises, are disproportionately targeted by the list, according to critics. Given the current circumstances there and the amount of families relying on legal immigration paths, Haiti’s inclusion has raised specific concerns.

Advocacy organizations and immigrant families believe the effects of the Trump travel ban 2026 likely be immediate and intensely personal.

How long this restriction is in effect and how many lives are put on hold while the door remains closed are now the more important questions.
