Montell Jordan Celebrates Victory After Overcoming Cancer Again

The R&B legend promises to use his story to save lives after overcoming a difficult two-year health battle.

As a two-time champion, Montell Jordan is formally entering the New Year.

This past weekend, the R&B icon posted the perfect holiday testimonial on Instagram, announcing that he is completely cancer-free.

This significant victory follows a risky battle earlier this year with a recurrence that spread to his lymph nodes. With a direct and impactful caption, Montell gave his fans the complete update: “Official Health Update: Cancer-free at 1 am! I am now a two-time survivor of cancer. We have been living this path for two years while also documenting it for a movie called SUSTAIN. You can follow our progress at @sustainthemovie.

You can contribute to our efforts to see this movie through Sustainthemovie.com. It will rank among my most significant achievements to humanity. Watch this live and spread the word. I like it. I adore it. Post it again. Give hope to someone else.

The 57-year-old artist disclosed that the good news ended a “seven-and-a-half-week interruption of life” and was delivered on Christmas Day.

Montell endured 37 exhausting rounds of hormone therapies and proton therapy in order to reach this finish line. “I have to outpace cancer in my journey. He said, “I have to get ahead of it.”

He is prepared to tell the whole story in his upcoming biographical film, SUSTAIN, which is scheduled for release in 2026, now that he has officially “run ahead” of the illness.

An initial diagnosis in early 2024 marked the start of a grueling two-year odyssey that culminated in this win. The singer of “This Is How We Do It” had a radical prostatectomy last year and was first believed to be cancer-free, but follow-up tests in September 2025 revealed the cancer had returned.

To show other men that a diagnosis isn’t the end of the road, the singer-turned-pastor chose to focus on his religion and his position as a Global Ambassador for ZERO Prostate Cancer rather than remaining silent.

Montell is transforming his survival into a movement with an eye toward 2026. In addition to appearing in SUSTAIN, he is embarking on a big 30-city tour called “This Is How We Cure It.”

In addition to offering on-site health tests to help save lives in the community, the tour will commemorate 30 years of his illustrious career.
